Designed & Stitched from Scratch Dino
After making a few plush animals with patterns from books, I decided to take a stab at making my own pattern for a brontosaurus (apatosaurus for the paleontologically anal). The pattern took around five revisions to reach the final version, for around 6 hours of work total.
The fabric is flannel (bought at JoAnn Fabrics), the same stuff that PJs are made of (very soft, 100% cotton). The 8mm safety eyes are from an Etsy store called 6060.
I've made over a dozen of these dinosaurs. Each takes around five hours to make, so I've put in, like, 60 hours of dinosaur-making so far! I hand-stitch the initial round and then I reinforce with a bit of machine stitching in certain "stress" regions. Two have been sold on Etsy so far (to good reviews).
